Leave a question running and come back to it

A question keeps running after you leave the page. Click through to Reports, the dashboard, anywhere — the assistant carries on and files the answer against your conversation.

What you'll see when you come back

Open Chat again and it reopens on the conversation you were in — not a blank page.

  • If the answer landed while you were away, it's simply there, in the thread.
  • If it's still working, you'll see "Still working on your last question" with the question quoted underneath. Leave it be; the answer drops into place on its own.

You don't need to ask again — and you shouldn't. Re-asking starts a second piece of work that costs the same as the first.

When to send it to the background instead

If you already know a question is a big one, use Investigate in the background when you ask it. That hands the work to the Inbox, tells you when it's done, and frees the chat for other questions in the meantime. See Investigations and your Inbox.

Starting fresh

New chat always gives you a clean thread. Your previous conversations stay in the panel on the left — nothing is lost by starting a new one.
